With multiple locations requiring manufacturing and logistics support, consolidating their supply base was a major goal for this OEM. Fortunately, Standard Iron was up for the challenge with facilities located near the customer’s plants. Taking advantage of this proximity allowed the OEM to increase supply chain efficiency and reduce costs using kitting and Kanban deliveries. This also helped them optimize production space and reduce cost on finished weldments and assemblies.

Standard Iron has developed a valued partnership over several years with one of the OEM locations that produces a large RTAC-based frame for industrial chillers. Previously, these frames were stored by part numbers on site, which was challenging for both handling and floor utilization.

To solve this issue, Standard Iron collaborated with the OEM to devise a plan that sequenced these frames on a flatbed in alignment with production. Standard Iron coordinated with the OEM’s daily schedule to time deliveries. Upon arrival, the flatbed was backed in through an adjacent dock, and frames were offloaded in the sequence of assembly using a hydraulic, single-lift system.
